Just A Bit About Myself

I most enjoy sharing truth, fun, laughter, and meaningful interaction with a small group of friends, preferably at the beach with the sound of the surf as a natural background "musical" accompaniment. Being a very private person, I limit myself to about 12 close friends. Acquaintances, although unavoidable, are kept to a minimum. I find chit-chat and pop culture extremely boring although I do enjoy causing mayhem in online chat rooms and forums as a humorous diversion. Being one who loves to travel and collect diverse experiences, a few destinations that stand out as favorites have been Maui, London, Hong Kong, and the Virgin Islands. Ultimately I would like to move to New South Wales, Australia and start a commercial communal home base with about a dozen close friends. Because I feel that one of the major downfalls of our culture is the demise of the family and/or friends' home dinner table, I have always loved to cook and prepare meals of all cuisines for those who are close to me in order to facilitate meaningful interaction and conversation over an eclectic home cooked meal. A few favorite sayings that come to mind are "Think for Yourself" ... Voltaire, "Esse Quam Videri" (to be rather than to seem) ... North Carolina State Motto, "Whether you think you can or you think you can't, you are probably right." ... My Father, and "Time is the Greatest Filter of Truth" ... Yours Truly. Of course the greatest saying of wisdom relating to one's relationships with others would be the words of Christ as expressed in "the Golden Rule"... truly golden words. My favorite traits in a person are spirituality and its resulting reverence for truth. I also revere spontaneity, humility, and a great sense of humor (which keeps things fresh and people young). I search for the purest truth from others in the common threads that connect the diverse personal thoughts and experiences of the greatest number of individuals. I am a compulsive learner but prefer to share what I learn with those who have truth to offer in return. I find that once one discounts the self promoting academic twoddle of those who are only able to gauge intellect by diplomas and test scores ... true intelligence is a rare commodity indeed and those who truly possess it tend to discount such superficial sheepskin yardsticks. |
